I know this has probably been asked many a time, but none of the posts ever gave a clear answer. I'll be coming from a hotel near the Northlake Mall in Charlotte and looking for an easy place to hc a nice day trip to for a group of adults and their teenage daughters. It's a "twisty-windy route". The beach is not really a "day trip" but is there a beach near charlotte nc you are hardy enough to nc romantic places mountains in that, I'd go to Folly Beach or Isle of Palms near Charleston.

It's interstate all the way and you can make that in about three chrlotte a half hours. I to Columbia then pick up I all the way in. Both are excellent beaches and a little less "touristy" than Myrtle – you'll find the traffic better as well.

Best wishes. Unless you just have to go to the beach, a day trip to the NC mountains would be a much easier trip and probably cooler than driving chaelotte any of the beaches. You can be in the Chimney Rock area, What 3 states have the largest latino population and Blowing Rockor Asheville in well under three hours from where you are staying. These past couple times though we have hopped onto 22 east and bypassed Conway and all the traffic. I live on the backside of Concord about 30 minutes from NorthLake Mall and Myrtle is a 3 to 3 hour 15 minute ride.

Wilmington is just over 3 hours as well. Also Hilton Head is neach the same time frame. I agree with a previous poster that the mountains would make a more viable day trip option.
