Generally speaking, either spring or fall is the ideal time to visit Charleston and the lowcountry for the most agreeable weather, and in particular, either April or October. At these times of year the temperature is usually pleasantly warm, without the extreme heat and humidity of summer. The hot season lasts from June through September, with the months of July and especially, August, best avoided if possible.

Rain and thunderstorms are common throughout the summer months, with a risk of hurricanes from June through October. Winters are generally mild, with many warm and sunny days. Winter weather can be variable, however, with cooler days and rain equally possible. Tourists and locals move seamlessly between downtown and the Atlantic Coast; while beach rentals are usually booked up by June, you might catch a break on availability and costs if you stay inland.

Charleston has two peak seasons, coinciding with milder temperatures on either side of the hot, humid summer. Spring and fall are marked by mild weather, big festivals and farmers' markets. Hotel prices are at their highest during spring break and Easter; the late fall offers the perfect mix of moderate temperatures, fewer tourists and more affordable rates.

Nestled in an historic row home right on King Street in downtown Leesburg, SideBar has a younger, trendier vibe than the other restaurants on our list. Best for small groups, SideBar serves brunch on weekends from 10am-3pm, often paired with live music.

The Conche is an absolutely grade-A experience I'd recommend for a fine dining experience. I worked with the team there for a special occasion, and they were phenomenal. The food is delicious, the drinks are excellent the wine chocolate pairings are a must for special occasions , and the staff are incredible. The manager came over and said, "I was told there was a problem with the drinks" we said, "oh nope, just personal preference", and he left.

They asked in the beginning if we are celebrating and I said "yes! I heard them singing happy birthday at other tables and I was teasing her that she was next, but nope.
