You will get wet as they get very excited to get a treat. It's in a wonderful safe location. Park in the garage which is another fee but everything is now days. It's a great time. Very affordable. Highly recommend. This place was okay; a nice place to go with kids. A bit pricey based on their small-ish collection and lack of animals, compared to other aquariums. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall, if you're on a trip with your family and you can afford it, it's worth a visit.

There are plenty of things here that a child will enjoy, but if you're expecting a truly unique aquarium experience, you might not find what you're looking for.

Nice small aquarium. Reason for 4 star, had hoped it would be bigger. Had a good day visiting with kids. Easy to leave and come back for lunch. Snack bar looks ok but not many choices and only place to sit is outside. If your kids like to touch animals this place has lots of opportunities.

They have a Trading Post program. Your kids can bring in shells, snake skin, fossils, bones to trade for other cool nature finds. If your new like us they can answer a few questions about the animals to earn points and get a treasure. Lots of shows and animal encounters all day long. Parking is across the street and reasonably priced. Not a lot of food choices around. A couple sandwich shops about 5 min walk away. On 42 lists. Historical place. Fort Sumter, visible across the harbor from Waterfront Park and the Battery, is the famous site of the first shots of the Civil War.

Sumter was taken by the Confederate Army in , and became a Southern stronghold for most of the Civil War, even towards the end of the conflict. The fort is only accessible by water: daily ferries run informative trips back and forth, leaving from the Fort Sumter Visitor Education Center at Liberty Square and Patriots Point, year round. Fort Sumter National Historic landmark is where the first shots of the American Civil War were fired, on April 12, , commencing the savage conflict between the Confederacy and the Union.

Fort Sumter which also incorporates Fort Moultrie is located on an island in Charleston Harbor and can be reached by ferry from downtown Charleston. Much like the carriage ride, the history might not stick with a smaller child, but the boat ride, fake cannons, and rambling stairways definitely will. Even the approach to the fort is exciting, as you enjoy a narrated min boat trip to reach the island. This national monument features several Charleston historic sites around the harbor, including cannons and structures used during the Civil War. Fort Sumter is accessible by boat only, and the Education Center ranks as a top spot to create adventures.

Taking a Fort Sumter tour is pretty fun, more for the ride out to Fort Sumter. This is a great opportunity to cruise the harbor and see the city from a different perspective.

The Chicora-Cherokee Community Park is a 2,square-foot playground located at North Carolina Avenue, and while there will be some parking available, it is intended to serve the immediate area with most visitors walking there. The property for the park was purchased with Charleston County Greenbelt Funds. Built on a man-made island in , this sea fort was to protect South Carolina from naval invasion.

It was never truly completed and during the Civil War at the Battle of Fort Sumter, the fort was left in ruins. Work was done to restore the fort and it again saw military action during the Spanish-American War.

The history at Fort Sumter began in the War of , but it really got interesting in the civil war. Fort Sumter is considered by many to be the start of the war after the South Carolina Militia fired upon Union troops stationed at the Fort.

Ultimately, a siege led to the the Union troops abandoning the Fort. Charleston has had its fair share of revolutionary wars and revolts in history. When we think of buying homes in and around Asheville for retirement, we think of both primary residences and second homes.

Many retirees in Asheville split their time between Western North Carolina and another home. For those buyers, a gated community is frequently preferred.

Gated communities in Asheville vary widely, from those with incredible golf courses and lots of amenities to those with relatively lower association dues but still with the security of a gated entrance. Without a doubt, one of the main questions when considering an area to live is the quality and availability of healthcare. One of the great things about retiring in such a beautiful and desirable Asheville area is that many very talented people feel the same way. This means that we have a plethora of excellent doctors, nurses, and other specialists who chose to live and work in Asheville.

We also have a variety of hospitals and outpatient clinics to choose from. In fact, the healthcare industry provides more jobs than any other sector in the Asheville MSA. Many of our outpatient clinics are located near Mission Hospital, right in the center of Asheville. Mission was ranked 6 in U. This way, you can spend more time getting to know the different areas and neighborhoods, and you can be ready to move quickly when the right property comes on the market.
