Florida zip code list

Their purpose is to convey statistical data about regions that are familiar to most citizens. As discussed above, it is difficult to precisely define a geographic area covered by a ZIP code. ZCTAs were developed to account for some of the difficulties in assigning an area to a ZIP code and to precisely define a geographic area.

In general, they are updated once every 10 years for the Census. The Census assigns an area to a ZCTA according to census blocks the smallest geographic unit used by the census. Imagine a city block that makes up a typical census block as pictured to the right. It is bounded on all 4 sides by portions of city streets that each have their own name and addresses.

The issue is that census blocks almost always split down the middle of the street. ZIP codes rarely do because that would require two postal workers delivering mail to that street – one for each side of the street. In the example, one mail carrier may deliver to 3 sides of the block via one ZIP code while another mail carrier delivers mail on the other street in a different ZIP code. When this happens, the Census Bureau will assign the entire block to a single ZCTA in this case, because the census block is the area that is precisely measured.

If you are getting very precise usually a matter of meters, not miles , census block boundaries near the edge of a ZIP code almost always split ZIP codes. The statistics provided by the Census Bureau can give insight into the demographics within the ZIP code. For instance, see our ZIP code rankings.

Remember that ZIP codes were made to make mail delivery easier. They weren't made to correspond to existing boundaries such as cities, counties, or even states. If it is more efficient for a mail carrier to drive across a state line to deliver mail, the ZIP code "boundary" will cross the state lines.

ZIP codes don't usually cross state lines, but some do , , and are good examples. The edges of the boundaries commonly overlap. For the purposes of our free zip code database by county downloads, we will commonly list either the most common region for the ZIP code or list multiple regions if several exist in the ZIP code. For cities, the assignment is somewhat more complicated.

The assignment of cities to ZIP codes is more general. The city is usually the name of the main post office. For instance, almost all ZIP codes in St. Louis County in Missouri have a city of Saint Louis when they may be more accurately described as the name of a smaller city where they are located.

Click here to learn more about matching ZIPs to cities and counties. Toggle navigation. The additional 4 digits help USPS more precisely group mail for delivery. The map of the first digit of zip codes above shows they are assigned in order from the north east to the west coast.

The first 3 digits of a ZIP code determine the central mail processing facility, also called sectional center facility or "sec center", that is used to process and sort mail. All mail with the same first 3 digits is first delivered to the same sec center where it is sorted according to the last 2 digits and distributed to local post offices.

The sec centers are not open to the public and usually do most sorting overnight. As you can see from the map of the first 3 digits of zip codes , the digits after the first are also generally assigned from east to west. In the map, 0 is closer to white and 9 is much more vivid. It's easy to follow the gradient across each of the zones even though there are a few exceptions such as the southwest tip of Georgia which uses 39XXX like central Mississippi.

Despite the fact that ZIP codes seem to be geographic in nature, that wasn't their intended purpose. They are intended to group mail to allow the USPS to deliver mail more efficiently. Some ZIP codes will span multiple states in order to make mail routing and delivery more efficient. In most cases, addresses in close proximity to each other are grouped in the same ZIP code which gives the appearance that ZIP codes are defined by a clear geographic boundary.

However, some ZIP codes have nothing to do with geogaphic areas. When ZIP codes appear to be geographically grouped, a clear shape cannot always be drawn around the ZIP code because ZIP codes are only assigned to a point of delivery and not the spaces between delivery points. In areas without a regular postal route or no mail delivery, ZIP codes may not be defined or have unclear boundaries. The main issue is discussed above: there simply isn't always a clear geographic boundary for a ZIP code.

The Census Bureau and many other commercial services will try to interpolate the data to create polygons shapes using straight lines to represent the approximate area covered by a ZIP code, but none of these maps are official or entirely accurate.

They provide a very close approximation of the area covered by a ZIP code. You can easily notice some of the boundary issues when viewing our maps. Very rural areas aren't labeled as belonging to a ZIP code such as much of Nevada and Utah where there are few, if any, addresses to deliver mail. If the address is on the same street as a ZIP code boundary on the map, be sure to search for the full street address to determine the ZIP code instead of relying on the map.

In fact, some of the most beautiful waterfalls near Asheville are accessible by relatively short, beginner-friendly trails.

Hike to seven outstandingly beautiful cascades on these trails. Explore beautiful, shady forests, boulder-filled rivers — and even get the chance to walk behind one of the towering falls. These family-friendly and kid-friendly trails are short, relatively easy, and pack a whole lot of beauty into a short distance.

And slippery rocks and fast moving water can be extremely dangerous! Hike the short, mostly paved trail along a steep chiseled rock outcrop and behind the plunging foot tall waterfall. The spectacular single-tiered cascade puts on an outstanding show, and roadside access allows visitors of all abilities to enjoy the falls without a long hike. And Looking Glass Falls is gorgeous in any season. Colorful wildflowers spring from mossy rocks in warm weather months, brilliant foliage frames the falls in autumn, and frosty icicles hang from the towering cliff in winter and early spring.

One of the highest cascades in the East, Whitewater Falls plunges more than feet in multiple cascades of wispy white tendrils. Hike the short paved trail to outstanding views of the falls from the upper platform before descending for a closer view.

A shady picnic area at the trailhead makes a perfect spot for a post-hike lunch or snack. Hike along the banks of the scenic Little River through a lush forest to a trio of exceptional waterfalls. The huge rocky outcrops at the base of the falls is a great spot for a little relaxation and a mid-hike snack. Look familiar? Hike through dense thickets of beautifully blooming rhododendron, following a rocky, boulder-filled creek to the stunning cascades of Big Laurel Falls near Standing Indian Mountain.

By Maria Mikkelsen Updated on March 17, If you happened to be a preteen in , you probably caught High School Musical fever. You bought the merch. You learned the choreography. Disney doubled up on the success of the first movie to produce two sequels within two years, High School Music 2 and High School Musical 3: Senior Year , respectively. Each adaption was accompanied by an unquestioningly catchy album that landed on the Billboard summit each year.

The trilogy follows the lives of a high school class from junior to senior year. The iconic music undoubtedly provided the inspiration for many graduation mix tapes over the last sixteen years. The original movies follow basketball star Troy Balton Zac Efron , sweetheart Gabriella Montez Vanessa Hudgens , and their friends as they overcome high school stereotypes and teen melodrama through the power of, uh, song and dance.

With the TV series set to debut its third season in , we decided to take a walk down memory lane and see if the original musical numbers are as good as we remember. The original High School Musical soundtrack features an ensemble of fresh-faced singers that feel underdeveloped at some parts. Supporting actress Ashley Tisdale was the powerhouse whereas lead actor Zac Efron did very little singing initially, with Drew Seeley providing vocals for Troy Balton in the first film.

Fortunately, Efron and his castmates improve throughout the entire trilogy, offering a broad selection of bops and a few odd eggs. Does anyone even remember this number? Between a petrified Troy Bolton and the potentially culturally insensitive lyrics, this song is too weird to like, even in a movie about musical theater.

Between a larger budget and a cinematic release, High School Musical 3: Senior Year is visually the superior movie. Musically, however, its soundtrack has more misses than hits. It was the perfect end to High School Musical 2. We get it. Gabriella and Troy are in love. Disney Channel had kids hooked on their melodrama, but there were one too many love songs featuring the two. It underperforms compared to her solo in the second film and plays it too safe to leave much of an impression.

Though his character gets his dues by the end of High School Musical 3: Senior Year , he deserved more character development and at least a solo to call his own. The best thing about this song is its music video. This song is one of the better numbers from the third movie. It highlights the respective talents of the entire cast and sends off their characters with a big, sappy smile. The music video even comes full circle, cheekily revealing the entire trilogy to be, well, a school musical!

Both High School Musical 2 and 3 open with a big number. The lyrics come off as a little too cartoonish , even for a Disney Channel Original Movie.

High School Musical 2 brings its plot to a close with a tender duet. The only downside is how dated the lyrics feel. Is there such a thing as too much optimism in a s musical? Tisdale and Grabeel are unapologetically ridiculous throughout. What should be a trainwreck somehow turned out to be a rather good song in retrospect.

With Zac Efron actually singing himself, Hudgens sounds more mature and not quite as nasally. The song also reaffirms what makes this couple quite so lovable. Once more, Tisdale is a force of nature. It sets a more mature tone that, retroactively, may have been out-of-touch with its middle school-aged audience.

Plus, both singers seem to enjoy themselves and its choreography is one of the more imaginative sequences in the series. High School Musical 2 is arguably the best of the trilogy. From start to finish, its soundtrack delivers some of the finest vocal performance its entire cast has to offer, Vanessa Hudgens included. The song has a stronger lyrical foundation. They even throw in a rain machine, a rooftop waltz, and a romantic backdrop for good measure. Fans had three movies over three years to root for this couple.

The East High students decide to put on a play about their senior year in the third film—and what musical during high school would be complete without a song about prom? Arguably the best song of the third movie, the entire cast is at their best. The song can stand on its own with a slightly more mature vibe that contrasts well with the rest of the discography. Corbin Bleu is fairly underutilized in the trilogy despite having one of the strongest voices. Thankfully, he gets his shining moment alongside Lucas Grabeel in this baseball-themed escapade.

Aside from the exceptional choreography, the song is one of the few selections from this list we could see working outside of a Disney film. The entire cast supplies a delightfully electric bop we found ourselves humming to all day long. Another basketball song? Tisdale obviously has the chops. The song has the right amount of teen angst and hypnotic enthusiasm to make its dance break addictive as hell. Sadly, Efron did no such thing. Sure, the song is cheesy but it works.

Despite being well over a decade since its conclusion, the original High School Musical trilogy and its iconic music hold up surprisingly well. What do you think?
