Every year, data crunchers try to find out the best place to get an education in America. While the exact numbers will shift as more information comes in, the list of states ranked by education equality and safety tends to stay pretty static. On the other, they also take into account bullying incidents and other safety components.

When examining lists of the US states ranked by education quality and safety metrics, each state will usually have three numbers. But in this case, numbers can be deceiving. For example, even though Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New Hampshire are in the top 5 states based on education quality and safety, they are only there because of their K systems. The three states hold the 27th, 30th, and 37th spots on the higher education ranking list. But again, even though those states can provide the best higher education, their K capabilities leave much to be desired.

On that front, Washington is the highest-ranked among these five states, despite sitting on the 19th place of the K ranking list. Ultimately, most states have a mid-tier ranking for both higher education and K facilities. For example, Missouri and Montana both hand around the 20—30th place on all counts. While the northern lights sometimes called aurora borealis occur year round in Alaska the best time to view them are dark nights November through March. February is cold and clear, making it an excellent time for northern lights viewing. March is also nice with dark nights but a bit more daylight.

Stay up late as the best viewing is from 10am-3am. Remember the lights need to be out and you need clear skies. The aurora can be elusive so think of it as an adventure. But the payoff is one of the most incredible spectacles of nature. Finally you can check the aurora forecast from the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Hello, I wanted to catch beautiful fall foliage in AK as well. Will that be too late for fall foliage? We also would like to check out some national parks as well and definitely wildlife sightseeing and finishing. We also will visit some old friends who live in Dutch Harbor. We will be staying in Airbnb, rent a car to drive around.
