Providence is the capital and most populous city of the U.S. state of Rhode Island. One of the oldest cities in New England, it was founded in by Roger. Land for the common was designated in August and has been used ever since as both a religious and civic center, the location of churches, a school, the town hall, town library, and other government buildings and civic institutions.
