When I first moved to Charlotte ten years ago for a summer internship, I told all of my Midwestern friends I was moving to the beach. Oh, poor, ignorant, Chrissie, I wish you would have looked at a map before opening your big, fat mouth. You see, I had always equated North Carolina with the ocean because we I spent my childhood summers yes, every summer since I was born!

Again, a map would have been helpful. It depends on what type of beach you are looking for…a lake beach or an ocean beach? Charlotte is just 20 miles away from the closest lake beach on Lake Norman, and miles away from the closest coastal beach.
